The Next Step

For any who have been praying for our family; here is a little update. Monday is the first day for Elizabeth and Jacob to meet with their attorney. (isn't that just too sad!) They will meet separately, I think, and then Tracy will meet with the same attorney. Please pray that the kids will be clear headed and not afraid to speak. They are very young, 10 and 8, but they are also pretty bright. I'm posting one recent picture of them, just so you can see who you are praying for.

Memorial Day "Oops"

We have recently had a Brinks Home Security system installed; not because we live in a bad area (which you can tell from some of our photos, but because it lowered our homeowners insurance considerably). I've been wondering if it really works and how long it would take someone to respond if the alarm went off. On Monday we had a chance to test it. My little niece accidentally hit the "fire alarm button" and set off the alarm. Within seconds, Brinks called to see if we were ok or needed assistance. We had turned the alarm off but forgot to hit the "cancel" button. It's a no-no when you forget to hit "cancel". While I was on the phone with Brinks, we could hear the fire sirens in the background. The fire truck arrived with several firemen. Rick went out to assure them that we were ok; it was accidental. I offered them a dessert, but they declined. Several of our neighbors came out to their porches to see what all the commotion was about. Needless to say, it was a memorable afternoon.

Memorial Day

We are fortunate to have family living nearby. We were able to get together for the Memorial Day Holiday. My dad brought ribs from a wonderful place called Damons. Between my mom, sister and me we took care of the rest of the food. We spent the afternoon outdoors playing "Bag O" (sort of like horseshoes, but with beanbags) and Ladder Ball. It was the first really warm day of the season. The morning started off with a few rumbles of thunder, but by 11:00, the sun was out and it was a beautiful day for a picnic. We did take time to thank the Lord for those who have given their lives to protect us.

Come take a walk through our back woods

It's beautiful right now. Lots of hostas, bleeding hearts, violets, and many plants I don't recognize. It's so nice that the people we bought from had a green thumb. I haven't had to do any planting, only occasional watering.

Lilac Festival 2008

Steve just sent me these pictures from today's Lilac Festival. It was always a fun weekend at Pine Mountain Club. There are lots of festivities; a parade, helicopter rides, lots of food, rides for kids and in the evening "Music Under the Stars". Elizabeth rode her horse, Chance. Jacob rode his scooter and Steve was there cheering them on.

Happy Birthday Rick!

Today is May 15th and it marks a milestone in DH's life! (mine as well) I am officially married to a "senior"! I think that means there are some perks available to him now. I'm posting a picture of Rick with Bubba and Jay at our Grace to You going away party. I don't have a lot of pictures of Rick and me together since I'm usually the one with the camera in my hand.

It's Official!

Well, it's official...I feel like spring is finally here. The flowers are out, so I know the cool weather is almost over, although we do still have the furnace on. (What's all this about global warming???)

You Go, Connor!

Connor's golf team from Frazier Park High School played in the season's finals. They came in second! I can't imagine a more beautiful setting for a game of golf; in the shadow of Mt. Whitney. Connor is one of the youngest on the team. They will be losing 4 or 5 seniors, which means Connor will have a good chance to make the team again next year.

2 "MANLY MEN"!

Rick and J. Buddy Rodgers.
(Rick is the one on the right)
Buddy is a very interesting and colorful guy. He's been an actor on TV shows; has written articles for several Western magazines and has had a book of poetry published. No kidding! His book is called...what else..."Manly Men".

DH is back

DH stands for "dear husband", in case you didn't know. I just picked Rick up at the airport after his trip to California. (Rick's plane was due in at 11:11 this morning, which meant I had to leave home by 10:55 to get there on time. That tidbit is for those of us who are familiar with the long drive to LAX from ANYWHERE in Southern California)
It was a quick trip, but it was also a good trip. Rick and my Dad were able to be there to support Steve and the kids as well as visit with Todd, Julie, Connor, Cody and Catherine. We are blessed to have such dear sons.

If you don't have an "Uncle Frank", I suggest you get one!

"Uncle Frank" is very important to Steve and these children. We are very grateful!!!

Jacob and Catherine's field trip

Jacob and Catherine recently went on a field trip to one of the islands off the coast of Santa Barbara. Here are some of the pictures Steve sent me. Jacob really enjoyed the trip; they even saw 2 whales. But...his favorite part of the trip was realizaing the boat had a snack shop!
